MEMORANDUM TO TAMILNADU GOVERNOR REGARDING ATROCITIES ION KANCHI MUTT

THE TAMILNADU MUSLIM MAKKAL KATCHI PRESIDENT HAJI S.M.PASHA MET THE STATE GOVERNOR SARDAR SURJIT SINGH BARNALA OM FRIDAY 21ST JAN.2005 AND PRESENTED A MEMORANDUM IN WHICH HE, INTER ALIA, STATED AS FOLLOWS:

" Your Excellency, we submit that of all forms of terrorism ( which has to be hated and crushed) STATE TERRORISM is the worst and most dangerous form of terrorism. We wish to invite Your Excellency's kind atrocities perpetrated by the Police against the Kanchi Mutt. To be more specific, the Police barged into the said Mutt in an exceptionlly large number to arrest the Junior Shankaracharya. They have done it, obviously, to create an erroneous impression in the minds of the public that the Junior Shankaracharya is a sort of a dreaded criminal who might create havoc in order to avoid and evade arrest. Secondly the Police entered the sacred Mutt premises with their boots on! Thirdly, the Police did not permit the said Junior Shankaracharya to complete the pooja he was conducting, throwing the well laid down and well established arrest procedures. If this is not "State terrorism", what else is it, may we ask?
We, respectfully, appeal to Your Excellency to recommend to the Central Government to issue directions under the relevant provisions of the Constitution of India to stem the rot, lest the unrest caused by the State terrorism should (God forbid0 lead to a law and order situation.
Sd/- S.M.PASHA
President

RESOLUTION PASSED IN THE MEETING OF INSTITUTIONS AND DEVOTEES TO PROTEST THE ARREST OF SRI H.H.SANKARA VIJAYENDRA SARASWATHI SWAMIJI OF SRI KANCHI KAMOKOTHI PEETHAM , HELD AT SRI SANKARA MATTHAM MATUNGA ON 12TH JAN 2005

The followers of Sanatana Dharma are deeply shocked and grieved by the reckless and sudden arrest of His Holiness Sri Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, the Junior Pontiff of Kanchi Kamakothi Peetham on monday 10th instant.

The south east asian region is yet to recover from the recent Tsunami disaster, when all of a sudden, like, another POLITICALLY MOTIVATED TSUNAMI, the news of His Holiness Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamijis, surprise arrest has caused a grave concern and agitated the minds of Tens of Thousands of Ardent followers /Devotees of Sanatana Hindu Dharma all over the country and over seas.

His Holiness Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji was released on bail by the supreme court on Monday the 10th instant and with in a few hours, the state government authorities of Tamil Nadu suddenly arrested the Junior Pontiff .The shocking development, like, a lightining , seems to be politically motivated , well calculated and ill intentioned.

Members of various institutions participating in the protest meeting, severly condemn this unpalatable act on the part of the authorities concerned, as it has completely paralysed the functioning of the age old illustarious Kanchi Kamakothi Mutt, by whisking away the fundamental human right of worship guaranteed in our constitution.

The authorities should not have acted so abruptly and hastily in the matter of a religious institution , which commands great respect and honour globally..

We, therefore, urge upon the central government, authorities to prevail upon the Tamil Nadu Government to release His Holiness the Junior Pontiff immediately.

What is the reason behind the TN Govt's cunning and clever withdrawal of the permission granted to "A peaceful prayer meeting attended by all women devotees", just the night before the event?

The attached press coverage portrays the "tell tale" of the series of orchestrated attempts by the TN police to thwart a peaceful protest...
What is the Government afraid of? The so called secular press..including "The Hindu" and "Vikatan" which are more than ready to publish even a slightest sensational rumour about HH Acharya, completely blacked out this news.

So much for the fourth estate and impartial coverage... Click here to see the press coverage
